Tum ye kehte ho ab koi – by Faiz Ahmed Faiz

A friend of mine passed on a link to this animation on YouTube. Poetry by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, recited by Ghulam Mohyuddin and depicted by an awesome animation by Ali Kapadia – it really doesn’t get much better than that!

Our Heritage

In times when we as a nation very earnestly await change, I feel that it is also necessary for us to not forget our roots. Our culture, our religion, our politics, our history. Alhamdulillah, we have a heritage that is both diverse and rich. We hope to build upon the foundations of the same rich heritage and to one day stand among the leading nations of this world. May that day come very soon. Aameen!

This video from BBC Urdu shows the Independence Day events of August 14, 1947. One can see rare glimpses of people and events here including Mr. Jinnah, Lord Mountbatten, Liaqat Ali Khan, Fatima Jinnah, Lady Mounbatten and many others. An excellent portrayal of our cultural, political and historical heritage.
